Orangettes

I love all things citrus, their magnetic aroma is something which can really lift & brighten up my day. I can have one wiff of the lemony zingy aroma & I am all up & cheerful. I have recently made a lot of blogger friends & its lovely to see them come up with so many things from locally available things. Recently one of my friends made this lovely marmalade with Malta ornages. I love marmalades rind & all & the possibility of making them at home caught my fancy! Sharing pics of some orangettes I had made all inspired by the new chocolate orange flavor released by cadbury some years ago. What I did - Peeled the orange, removed the white pith carefully. Cut the rind length wise, simmered in sugar syrup. Keep each one to dry. I could chew on a few just like that too! To take it to the next level dipped them in melted dark chocolate ✨

Diwali 2010

Evening Pooja for Goddess Lakshmi... My floral rangoli...... Indoor Crackers!!!! No paper cut outs to add to the festive cheer :) Gifts in decorated glasses for all the guests :) After all the festivities in Sept- Oct it was Diwali around the corner.... Weekends were spent in cleaning the house or shopping! It was totally worth it at the end.... We had 2 family parties at home, one after the Lakshmi Pooja and one after the Bhaubeez. I njoyed my Diwali to the core and all the preparations paid off. It started out by sending Diwali cards for close family and friends :) Changing the decor of my home and driving my hubby insane with the Card bills! Preparing the Diwali sweets and savouries 'single handedly' and it was my first time at it....beginner' luck was with me and my sweets were blessed and got everyone' compliments too ;) (modesty at its best!) Sarso ka Saag & Makai ki Roti

There is a nip in the air since the last few days... With the dipping mercury all of us need some soul soothing food The winter greens on display inspired me to make the classic combo of Sarso ka saag & Makai roti Something about chopping the mustard greens makes me feel fuzzy in my heart, its deeply satisfying...the greens have a lingering pungent aroma and a snappy crunch when you chop them. The dough for the roti is made with golden color corn meal and wheat flour. The warm yellow roti, bowl of saag and a generous drizzle of melted ghee on the roti, just perfect to warm your heart this winter.
